Looking back at 2021 and forward to 2022 with Herbert Pesch
As we dive into 2022, we take a moment to look back at 2021 and look forward to what might happen this year. So, in this update, we interview our founder and CCO Herbert Pesch and ask him to reflect with us.
What were your highs and lows of 2021?
2021 was an incredibly good year for us. We have grown very strong in all aspects of our business. We seriously grew our team, our turnover and our margin. We started many new strategic partnerships and delivered great digital commerce platforms. And just a couple of weeks ago, we launched an ambitious partnership with the Rensa Family (a leading technical wholesale company).
Another exciting milestone was the opening of our new office ‘Houtwerk’ in Utrecht. A revolutionary sustainable office completely built out of wood. We created a place with a true clubhouse feeling.
We feel that even more than before, the office becomes a place of getting together to connect, to work, to team up, be creative, exchange ideas, relax and celebrate. This naturally brings me to the downside of 2021; COVID... I really regret that our beautiful offices in Utrecht, as well as in Lisboa, aren’t the lively places they normally are. Only a small group of our colleagues got a chance to see each other in person in Utrecht and Lisbon last year. More in general, it really frustrates me that so many social and business events, meetings, trips, Eviski and parties had to be cancelled. Especially the big opening party of our new office! But we will definitely reschedule it to later this year! Despite the pandemic and its restrictions, I’m very proud that we still were able to welcome so many new people to the Evident team and that everyone stays connected and positive and keeps doing a fantastic job, despite all these challenges.
What are you looking forward to in 2022 on a personal level?
Well, the previous question already answers a part of that. I’m really really looking forward to working with everyone in person again. Especially the colleagues in Portugal, since I didn’t get many opportunities to visit them last year. Furthermore, I hope my family and I will be able to dive in the powder in the Alpes and in some azure warm waves somewhere in a sunny country😊
What changes do you expect to see in B2B digital this year?
Next year, I foresee that digital transformation in B2B is even more boosted by increasing demands of the customers. The pressure on companies to transform the way how they sell and deliver products and services will increase in the B2B market. For both manufacturers and wholesalers as well as for the B2B service industries. This creates huge opportunities for Evident since we are one of the European B2B specialists in digital.
We initiated an extensive survey, ‘the Voice of Industry Leaders‘, amongst digital leaders in B2B manufacturing in Europe. The preliminary results of this survey already gave us some great insights into what to expect in 2022. 75% stated to have a strong digital ambition for the coming years for example, while almost 33% plans to invest at least 20% extra in digital. I am really looking forward to helping these ambitious companies to drive their business through digital commerce. By the way, you can pre-request the report here.
To be able to seize these great opportunities, we must keep growing. This is challenging. But because of the great international projects we do, the many career opportunities and our great Evident culture, I am confident we will manage. For example, I love to see the number of nationalities within our teams grow past 20! So please point your talented friend, nephew, neighbour in the right direction: https://careers.evident.nl/ 😊
So, let’s rock 2022, and make sure it will be a wonderful year. Stay healthy, stay positive!
